Managed and led UX eight-person design team for Seattle region. Closed over $800k in project sales in 2018. Conducted stakeholder and user interviews, contextual inquiries, and participatory design sessions. Collaborated with researchers to synthesize field data into personas, workflows, and design opportunities. Iteratively evolved designs from storyboards and paper sketches, to wireframes, to working prototypes in Sketch/Invision, Principle and Axure RP. Created and evolved design systems and applied them to existing applications. Tested designs using heuristic evaluations, multivariate and click testing, and usability studies. Proposed visual design directions/mood-boards, narrowed options to a final visual language, and applied them to prototypes and wireframes. Worked for clients including GE, Mercedes-Benz, Charles Schwab, Daimler Chrysler, Dell, Apple, Amazon, Novo Nordisk and CapitalOne. Projects ranged from embedded devices to enterprise applications, including conference room control system, help desk ticketing, software license management, retail store inventory and schedule management, and financial transaction and relationship management.

Consulted as virtual CTO and product manager for new startups. Performed needs analyses and requirements gathering. Wrote user stories and designed user interfaces. Managed both local off-shore software development teams using Scrum methodology. Designed front end user experience, architected back end systems, and launched multiple products including production dashboards for surgery centers, surgery coding/billing application, online high school fundraiser, class scheduling solution, and document management system for study abroad program. Worked as Acting VP of Technology for Front Gate Tickets and conducted search and hire of new VP of Technology after departure of previous VP.

Front Gate Tickets, Co-Founder and Director of Product, 2002 to 2008

Bootstrapped software startup focused on the entertainment industry, which grew to 45 employees, over $50M in gross annual revenue and a presence in 19 states. Architected, developed and implemented web application and desktop software suite as well as database back end that provides ticketing capabilities to over 800 venues, artists and promoters, six major festivals, and has sold over 5 million tickets. Managed product road map and oversaw entire software life cycle from requirements gathering and design to QA and maintenance over two full product releases and migrations. Worked with security and hosting companies to maintain PCI compliance and 24/7 uptime. Provided consulting, training, and integration support for new clients, and technical support to existing clients. Other responsibilities including hiring, budget planning, and overseeing hardware procurement and inventory.

Human Code, Director of Technology, 1998 to 2001

Lead programming teams for multiple year-long projects, ranging from e-commerce (Ishophere), computer-based training (IC2 Institute, Albertsons), Internet connected toys (Leap Frog), to PC games (Nickelodeon, Disney). Involvement on projects started with sales process, pitching appropriate technologies to clients, brainstorming solutions for given deadlines and budgets. Wrote detailed requirements and design documents. Architected, designed, and coded complex client/server applications using Perl, Java, C++ and PHP. Wrote HTML, PERL and ActiveX components for database driven and dynamically updated websites. Managed Linux and Windows NT servers. Created original designs and also collaborated with clients and advertising agencies. Designed print collateral and worked with service bureaus.
